Which commodity is tops in value for U.S. organic fresh produce imports?

Blueberries top the list of the most valuable imported organic fresh commodities in 2022, USDA statistics show.

At $391 million, U.S. imports of organic blueberries were dominated by Peru ($168 million), Mexico ($161 million) and Chile ($57 million).

Avocados were the second-most valuable imported organic fresh produce item, valued at $202 million. Mexico accounted for $175 million of that total, along with $28 million from Peru.

Imported organic fresh raspberries accounted for $154 million, nearly all of it accounted for by Mexico. U.S. imported organic strawberries accounted for $112 million, also dominated by supply from Mexico.

The value of U.S. imported organic greenhouse bell peppers totaled $96.4 million in 2022, with $81 million provided by Mexico and $9.7 million from Canada.
